The HardCore

If you'd like to find some great mainstream gaming web sites, I would suggest GameSpot, IGN or GamersGate! Recently I heard the news that GamePro is no longer going to publish their print magazine. It was a great subscription to have around for reference. Looks like PCWorld has taken over the operations of GamePro, It would take more than that kind of upset in the industry for me to go back to PCGamer! Granted some Indi games can be fun and enjoyable, but after spending a grand or more on an extreme machine, the last game I want to play is one that still runs on a dinosaur 8086 processor. The recent Tv serial, 'The Big Bang Theory', portrays these geeky four stooges as still playing on the Wii and enjoying a round on a DOS based dungeon game. Not going to happen again in my lifetime even though I'm probably one of the fewer sources around that still has all his DOS software.!?

My gaming unit is a custom designed AMD FX™-8150 Eight-Core Processor 3.60GHz on an ASRock Motherboard with 32GB AMD Entertainment Series Dual Channel memory modules, two SLi connected nVidia GeForce GTX 560 main GPUs. Uses a Nvidia 3D Vision Kit on Asus' VG236 3D primary monitor. OCZ Vertex SSD installed with Windows 7 64bit Pro in an Azza Case. Other enhancements include a Noctua N14 Dual Fan Heatsink, 1.8TB of RAID 5 Data storage, nMEDIA-PC display panel and an LG 3D Blu-Ray Disc drive with M-Disc compatibility.

This GridBug was named 'Galactica', after the popular BattleStar from Tv, and provided a baseline for building inexpensive customized gaming units. Everyone can have a Xbox or a Playstation, bah, poodoo! Take a stand against the one world console takeover! Build a personalized Extreme Graphics & Gaming Personal Computer and take advantage of your inner geek right from buying the hardware to tightening the last screw. PC Gaming vs. Console?

Triple core CPUs such as those found in the xBox360, ..., are real cheese for inexpensive console gaming, but in the world of PC Gaming there's a more unsympathetic demand on hardware. The looming question, "Is PC Gaming Dead?" is like asking "whatever happened to IBM?". Here's a clue -->! Sure enough, the giants of the industry are omni-present which gaurantees that the game you play on a console device was, is, will be developed, in some way or another, on a Personal Computer. IBM has made good on the concept and made hoards of cash on a great idea even now. PC gaming has ruled the early days from the 1980's with titles like Ultima. The era of consoles is but a shadow spin-off of the quickly advancing technology of a PC. With the raw processing power of the PC last year easily reaching 200 Billion Instructions Per Second, it blows away the 19.2BIPS of the Xbox360, 10.2 for the Playstation and 1.7 on the Wii.

The level of sophistication is only a matter of time and money. There is always time, so all we need is a little bit of cash, say around $1,200 of the green. Here, in Merritt, BC, we are going to build a new GRiD BuG from an Extreme Graphics & Gaming computer project, or E.G.G., for short. It's all about High Frame Rates, Gaming Experience, Stability, Economics and being EcoFreindly using recent advances in power-saving technology combined with smooth styling and glow. One word? Awesome!
